My wife likens me a Punk Rock Modernist with my concept emerging after the process.

Forcing Reflections

With a stack of 6, 1' x 1' mirror tiles, I'm able to mutate my visual dailyness into something unfamiliar - the potential to surprise. The accessibility of integrating the straight lines of the tiles into nature's gnarly world is enchanting.

More often than not, I'm seeking discipline versus a [visual] narrative. Forcing myself to pick up a camera several times per week, shooting without the necessity of a car - keeps me local.

Coupling ideas of "Refelction" - now I'm back into the narrative - grounds the interpretive intentions an architect is forced to contend with. Social versus the natural construct is a timeless contemplative interplay.

Personification of the Building

I'm working with a premise supporting how architectural choices (exterior & interior) offer elegant reflections of the architect's ego, visualized.

My wife reminded me I'm following modernist etiologies of design via my use of the sketch (graphite / charcoal) as the skeleten of the architect's persona - which ultimately will be covered in "skin."

I start with the skeleton; what follows isn't a set of controlled strokes, moving towards a preconceived pictorial representation (abstract or optically true). A brush stroke, a spray painted arc, or a whipping splatter of house paint - all build upon the canvas. I react to that building [on the canvas] by adding or subtracting visual cues. I strive for new gestalts of design preferences, as those are what intuitively guide the growth of the architect.

Music Composition

Back With a 12 String
I am repetitive; I insert subtle changes; I lose myself in the patterns. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen when I sit down with the guitar.

Oil Painting

My Wife is My Teacher

I've had to re-evaluate my yearnings toward instant gratification, finishing a painting in a single sitting. It's just not possible, yet, with how I stroke, brush, and scrape pigment across the canvas.

My wife's power phrase, "Just keep painting, keep going."

The oil paint is so maluable, easily mixing with what's on the canvas. The slop paint fast and hard, evaluate, repeat - just isn't working anymore.

Wanting to Want

Previous Studio Practices

Confronted with job (in)securities, letting go and moving on from original intentions is liberating.

SAYING FAREWELL TO:
There are struggles with the role of an adjunct. In the context of being an adjunct assistant professor, not having an authoritative credential is an income-based barrier. Although the knowledge acquired through the mastery of real analysis and abstract algebra has [overtly] nothing to do with developing fundamental algebraic skills in a developmental student - this lacking remains a limiting agent for receiving equal pay, instead of less than half - for doing the same job. You do the math while entertaining its cultural psychology.

Exercising the cliche of "Interdisciplinary Inquiry"

I'm playing with geometric shapes, insprired by staring off into the infinity box.

In order to discover great change, I only have to move my hand.

It's a breeding ground of the paradox, enmeshed within synchronicity.
