I was curious if someone [industry] had come in and offered some love to this inviting section of town.

Overlapping textures, planes, and lines consume most of how I see.

It had just rained; people were scarce and reflections glorious.

Camping & Education Foundation

Architect - Many Visions & Hands

I only had the intention of doing a walk around the building; I was fortunate enough to be offered a seat on a script reading from Kitchen Dog Theater folk.

Kalita Humphreys Theater

Architect - Frank Lloyd Wright

I just couldn't find much of an engaging walk around Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, designed by I.M. Pei. So, I just kept walking, getting lost, and wandering my attentions.

Taliesin West is a reminder that an educational community can evolve with a purpose, in this case architectural & building progressions. Students' hands were often raw from working with materials and fingers sore because of [musical] performance. It once was an example of an experientially-based, community driven, architectural education.

The doors throughout Cranbrook's campus inform [my] considerations of stylized transitions. I'd like to believe his doors and subtly sculputed walls are foundational premises to [visually] guide inside pathways; they open a contemplation for how spatial qualitites communicate with each other.

The Disney Concert Hall resonates a cliche contemporary harmonic, void of both using and complimenting local, naturally-defined, elements. With its symphony of metallic curved planes, it enables a sharp juxtaposition as an overt narrative. It is the very idea of an "overt narrative" that can transform a dead space into one that's engaging [for the mind].

The Weissman Art Museum

Architect: Frank Gehry

To see how the work of Frank Gehry, FAIA, has evolved, look no further than the 2011 addition to his 1993 Weisman Art Museum, the latter of which won a citation in the 1992 P/A Awards program. The original building has four brick-clad, skylit galleries standing on top of a parking garage, which are entered from a road along the Mississippi River. The galleries, store, and offices overlooking the river and adjacent bridge are wrapped in a stainless steel façade of Cubist-like shapes that recall the fractured face of the cliff below, with the hand-drawn construction documents laying out each piece of the metal skin like dressmaker’s patterns. Museums - Their Design

The Museum of Fine Arts of Houston (MFAH) precipitated 'my' introduction to the astoundeding, entertaining, and marveling qualities that a singular space can arouse. While the art on display is world class, the spatial qualities, including the indirect lighting on handrails, easily connects with the planes of the walls / ceilings & Alexander Calder's mobile(s).

Museums are cool, provoking attentions to the subtleties of a roofed structure, including the distances between the wall and flooring, if their union isn't seamless.

Schools - Their Design

Any place containing a formality of prescribed pedagogy, is a school. As soon as I perceive a space to be a "school", my style of seeing, what I see, and personal narratives conversing with spatial qualities...shift.

Often I ask, "How could this enviornment provoke intensified learning / memory stimulations [better than] this other school's architectural choices?"

R.W. Lindholm Service Station

Architect: Frank Lloyd Wright

"The answer is, within yourself. Within the nature of the thing that you yourself represent, as yourself. And Jesus said it, I think, when he said, “The Kingdom of God is within you.” That’s where architecture lies, that’s where humanity lies, that’s where the future we’re going to have lies. If we are ever going to amount to anything—it’s there now, and all we have to do is to develop it."

Disney Concert Hall

Architect: Frank Gehry

As a fan of architect, Frank Gehry, I necessitate the time to stalk around, eyes fixed on his sculptures. His solutions [and dilemmas] he creates are hypnotically elegant and devoid of cliche.

The rhythm dance of his curved and flat planes has no need for the ornamental. Weather I'm focused on the his architecural forest or the trees of its foundation, I'm in my jam.

Aside from its myriad narratives, it's a reminder that engineers and software developers are a viable solution to costly trial and error proesses.
